We've had no shortage of big tench reported over recent weeks, but none larger than this 12lb 8oz beauty, landed by Lee Snow.
He was fishing a large southern gravel pit and spent two hours walking the lake before tackling up, looking for signs of fish rolling.

Eventually, after spotting a few, he set up in the nearest suitable swim and then cast helicopter rigs carrying worm hookbaits to an area around 60 yards out, which he also baited with chopped worms, casters and a scattering of hemp.
The first day and night of his trip were uneventful, but at 9am the next morning Lee had a slow take and hooked a fish that immediatey found sanctuary in a weedbed. After he eased it free, the fish then put up a steady fight most of the way to the bank, before bursting into life again when it reached the margins.

Once it was in the net, Lee peered into the mesh and was shocked at the size of his catch, which was weighed and photographed by two other anglers and beats Lee’s previous tench best by 1lb 10oz.
Later in the same session, Lee added a perch weighing bang-on 4lb, making the trip even more memorable – if that’s possible!
