This three-day event pulled in a good crowd as anglers battled it out on both Broadland rivers.

At the final whistle, two men were locked on five points – Bob Nudd and Steve Harwood.

But with total weight coming into play, four-time World Champion Bob got the nod with 46-4-0 against the 43-11-0 of Steve to take the title.

Both anglers scored a section win and two seconds over the course of the festival.

Bob’s week began at peg 8 on the Coldharbour section of the Thurne, where caster and pinkie over groundbait at 6m to hand gave him 11-7-0 of roach and a couple of bonus perch to see him into second in the section.

He was back to the Thurne on Wednesday, where peg 3 on the Womack section lay in wait.

After a slow start on the feeder, Bob changed to the whip at 7m, again with caster and pinkie, for a fine 17-5-0 net of roach, including some quality fish when the tide turned. That was good enough for second again, just a few ounces off top spot in the section.

Peg 61 on the Yare was Bob’s final port of call. Fishing the whip at 5m with a 3g rig, and caster and pinkie over groundbait, he caught plenty of roach, along with what would turn out to be a very important 4lb bream. At the scales, 17-10-0 was enough to win the section and leave the rest up to the mathematicians!
