Another 18 anglers fished the event but were no contest for Andy, who finished 130lb clear of second place, fishing from Peg 11 on Bridge Lake.
Starting the match mugging a few carp, Andy was priming his shallow line with slop in the hope of catching shallow.
“There were a few cruising carp around to start and I managed six in the first 30 minutes feeding slop at six metres," he said.
Andy favours a paste hookbait when fishing shallow, something not many people do due to the worry of it falling off.
“Once I went on the shallow line, I instantly knew a good day was on the cards,” he said.
“It’s been a fish every drop in and I have even had to slow down at one point whilst I waited for an extra net - a phenomenal day of fishing!"

Using the same tactics, Andy also went on to win the open at Blundells Fishery in Warrington with another 200lb-plus weight a few days later.
If you haven’t tried fishing with paste shallow, it may well be worth giving it a go now!
