MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT ON THE RIGHT TRACK

A project that uses angling to combat mental health issues has been nominated for a prestigious award.

On Track Fishing is a non-profit business based in North Lincolnshire that also offers help to ex-service personnel and people with disabilities. Despite only starting in 2021, founder Gareth Pavelin and his team have been recognised for the impact they’ve made in the region by the BBC’s Make a Difference Awards. They reached the top four in their category, but aren’t stopping there, as Gareth explained.

“We’ve nearly finished turning a disused pond into a haven for fish and wildlife that’ll be the ideal place for people with mental health issues to receive uninterrupted fishing coaching,” he said.
