A recent visit to popular day ticket complex, Bluebell Lakes near Peterborough proved to be very memorable for Tom Norris, when he banked one of the monster carp that reside in the lake, Tilly at 54lb 14oz.
Arriving late over the Easter weekend, there was a limited set of pegs left so he headed to a productive area of Sandmartin Lake in the hope of some action. With the light fading fast, Tom opted to cast three single hookbaits out to likely looking areas with limited bait over the top in the hope of stirring some activity.

"I just flicked out three rods and casted a few spods over the top using Essential Cell with a few other little bits," he told us.
This proved to be a very successful tactic as by the morning the huge day ticket common had taken his hookbait.
"Less then 12 hours passed after getting the rods out and Tilly, the biggest fish in the lake, was on the end of my rod," he said.
"It was about 6am when my alarm let out one beep and the rod was bent round. I wound in to find a dead weight far out but I finally got her moving, I knew I was attached to something special!"
It was only when Tom netted the carp that he truly realised what he had just landed.
"I went to wake my pal up and he assured me it was a 50, we weighed her up got some photos and sent her on her way, coming in at just below 55lb, with the bailiff's confirming it was Tilly."
"I was absolutely ecstatic to say the least beating my french pb by 7 pound," Tom said.
