Monster Stour chub falls to single maggot

“I SPENT seven hours in a swim on the Dorset Stour the other week, where my efforts were rewarded with a trio of chub, weighing in at 5lb 6oz, 6lb and 7lb 8oz.
“The largest fish came towards the end of the day and fell to a single red maggot on a size 18 hook and light line.
"It felt heavy from the off and fought hard for around five minutes.
"Steering it away from the snags was nerve-racking, but I was pleased to eventually net it.”
