“THIS season I’ve decided to target specimen fish from my local stretch of the River Wey. One evening recently I was waiting for my wife in a car park that the river runs through, and decided to have a few casts, hoping for a perch.
“I was using small livebaits, and lost a really good fish on the first cast. I lowered the bait back in, and the rod wrapped round hard again. I struck into what I knew was another decent fish, but I wasn’t prepared for what surfaced!
“My wife appeared just in time to get some photos of this awesome creature, that tipped the scales round to 4lb 2oz.”
