Season 6 of Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing has scooped 'Series of the Year' after another hilarious and heart-warming run of episodes.

To do so they fought off strong competition from the Monster Carp lads, who weren’t far off the pace come the close of voting.

By and large, Season 6 followed the show’s usual format, and kicked off in Wales, where the pair fished both the Wye and Usk for chub. Here, they were joined by Dave Lyons, of Tackling Minds, who shared his powerful story and touched the hearts of viewers.

A trip to Scotland after pike was then followed by a visit to an autumnal Hampshire Avon, where Bob and Paul targeted roach, dace and river carp.

Crucians were next on the agenda, and the boys headed to the famous Sutton Lake, where they both landed good fish.

Episode five of the series proved to be a slightly controversial one, by the show’s standards, as a shingles-stricken Bob was replaced by comedian Lee Mack.

That doesn’t sound too bad, but when Lee joined Paul on a bass fishing trip to South Devon, he revealed that he was a vegan, and wouldn’t fish. In fact, he magnet- fished – a hobby that provides its own share of controversy – as a bemused Paul looked on.

Audiences weren’t too keen on that episode, and it took a bit of a battering on social media.

But the series finale returned to form, as Bob came back and the pair took a reflective trip to the Derbyshire Wye, where they’d filmed their very first episode.

Throughout, there was a feeling of closure, and many viewers suspected that would be the end of things. But it’s since been announced that there will be an episode coming over the festive period, and that Season 7 is in the pipeline, and expected to air some time in 2024. Keep an eye out for updates on when that will be!

After kicking things off at Lake Zajarki, in Croatia, the pair had to brave severe weather and the deadly local ‘wildlife’ in South Africa, before tackling Gigantica’s Road Lake and Lac Du Der in France.
