England international Nick Speed got a lot more than he bargained for when he banked this giant carp on his first cast of the session at a club water.
The Dynamite Baits and Shimano-backed star headed to Barnsley DAA's Sally Walsh's Dam to trial some new groundbaits, with skimmers his main target on the day.
He couldn't resist an early drop down the margins with a feeder though and his impromptu decision paid off within 15-minutes of setting the trap.
After a nerve-jangling battle, the huge common surfaced, and once in the weigh sling the dial on the scales swung round to 24lb 13oz.
Writing on his Facebook page shortly after the feat he said: "I underarmed a Hybrid feeder loaded with a mixture of Green Swimstim Feeder groundbait and 3mm pellets from within the same range and it didn't take long for this beast to find the goods.
"It was a stunningly marked fish and is apparently one of the biggest fish in the venue and is known to locals as The Box Carp."
