One of England’s greatest match angling legends proved he has lost none of his skill when he hauled out over 100lb of silverfish during his latest outing.

Four times individual world champion Bob Nudd has been a regular at Norwich’s Meadow Farm Fishery recently and found himself on peg 49 of Silvers Lake during the final round of the winter league.

Rotating between a pole line at 6m and another tight to the far bank, he managed to bank 113 ide, six F1s and solitary small carp for a 117lb 4oz total. Maggots both loosefed and on the hook did the damage, with the Matrix-backed star using 0.16mm mainline to a 0.12mm hooklength and a size 18 hook.

That was just about good enough to seal the lake win, with second placed John Dale putting 116lb 9oz in his nets from peg 42.

The result helped Bob bag £300 for coming fourth in the league overall, with john securing the title and top prize of £1,000.
