The Yorkshire rivers are in fine form as of late, especially for those anglers using lures to target perch. With reports of some good hits of fish, and some larger specimens banked recently, it appears there has been an explosion of 'stripeys' and the anglers in the area are making the most of it.
Having made an early start to his session in order to avoid the forecast strong winds and rain, Harry Waudby was rewarded with this superb perch weighing 4lb 4oz from a North Yorkshire river.
He found the waterway running low and clear, but that didn’t seem to deter the fish, as he hooked the specimen in just the third swim of the morning on a stickbait, fished on a Texas rig.
It hit the lure at close range, giving Harry a glimpse of the fish, which sent his adrenaline rocketing throughout what he described as being a ‘terrifying’ fight. Thankfully, everything went smoothly from there on, and he was relieved to slip his landing net under the new PB.
