Quiet stretch produces a whacking great chub

When targeting specimen fish in rivers, certain stretches are known to hold big fish regardless of the river you’re fishing. While it pays to focus on these areas, they are often heavily pressured, making the fish incredibly wary and difficult to catch. Therefore, it can be beneficial to target quieter, less well-known stretches. While this doesn't always guarantee the presence of big fish, it adds to the excitement—especially when your efforts to explore new areas does result in you landing huge fish!

Adam Bassimeh did just that when he targeted a seldom-fished area of the Thames, resulting in him landing an impressive chub that tipped the scales to 7lb 8oz.

“I’ve been fishing a spot on the Thames that not many anglers target, where I’ve had a few 6lb chub and a surprise barbel," he said.

“I had been watching the weather carefully prior to another visit. Water temperatures had risen, and the air pressure was dropping. I knew it’d be perfect for big chub."

“So, I lightly baited my chosen spot and returned that evening with a rod. Within 45 minutes, I had a bite from this 7lb 8oz specimen. A homemade fishmeal boilie did the trick.”

IF YOU WANT TO CATCH BIG FISH LIKE THIS, YOU NEED ONE OF THE BEST CHUB FISHING RODS.
