Rod licences to go online only

From the start of next year, anglers will no longer be able to buy their rod licences from the Post Office.

Instead, from January 16 onwards, permits will have to be purchased either directly from the www.gov.uk website, or via the Agency’s telesales service (0344 8005386).

The move, which will anger many, is geared towards making cost savings for the EA.

The Agency is claiming that the freed-up resources will be invested into its fisheries services.
