IF you’re only going to catch one fish in a session then you may as well make it a good one, and that’s exactly what Thomas Trethewey did with this clonking 4lb 11oz perch.
He’d travelled from his home in Kent to a large East Anglian reservoir, where he hoped to land some of the large stripeys that these vast stillwaters have become famous for.
After spending most of the day casting lures in bitterly cold temperatures, his efforts were finally rewarded in the afternoon when his slowly-retrieved jig was hit hard in the depths.
Thomas revealed that when the fish surfaced and he saw the sheer size of it, he focused on trying to get it in the net as soon as possible!
