They say that confidence is key in fishing, and Kent ace Dan Woolcott’s morale must be sky-high after landing this fine 3lb 1oz roach hot on the heels of smashing his grayling PB.

Dan was fishing at a southern pit, where he presented maggot feeders 60yds out over a bed of Dynamite Baits groundbait.

Fluorocarbon hooklinks of 5lb breaking strain and size 14 Drennan specimen hooks were strong enough to tame the superb fish, which was landed on 1.5lb test curve Drennan Twin Tip Duo rods.

He added one other roach weighing 2lb 4oz during what he described as a ‘tough’ session.

"I really went all out for this fish and put in some proper graft, so I'm over the moon," he told us.
