The UK's canals are often underrated for their carp fishing potential, but putting in the effort on these urban waterways can often bring big results.

This was proven by Jamie Appleyard, who after cycling 9.5-miles to his spot every day to bait up for the last couple of weeks, eventually connected with this superb 31lb 3oz mirror.

Fishing a stretch of the Aire & Calder Canal in East Yorkshire, the 26-year-old dropped in on his pre-baited spot for the night, but received very little action. That was until 10am, when all of a sudden his rod ripped off...

"It was a beast of a fish and is believed to be the biggest in the stretch," he told us.

Jaime caught the superb mirror carp on a 16mm Sticky Baits Krill boilie which he presented on a Blowback rig.
