Sometimes we get fortunate with our fishing, landing the fish of our dreams early on in our angling journey, other times we have to wait a lifetime until we finally get our hands on the fish we want. Nicholas Clare has a fairly unique story, banking a huge zander after waiting 20 years since catching his last specimen fish.
“I have fished mainly for zander since the winter of 1966, and I caught my first 15lb fish 20 years ago. I’ve just managed another one, weighing 15lb 1oz, so I had a fair wait for the second!" Nicholas told us.
“It was caught from a Fenland water that I haven’t had many zander from, and is a water I’ve not fished for years. But there was significant bream activity in the area, which told me it had to be worth a visit.
“The fish was caught close to dusk on a small legered roach.”
