“With low pressure and strong winds forecast, I decided on a last-minute trip to a local gravel pit in search of a big rudd.
“After checking a few swims, I found several nice rudd close to some overhangs. I had a quick 2lb 8oz fish on floatfished breadflake, then got the feeder rods out, with a Method on one and a cage on the other, both with pop-up boilie hookbaits.
“The cage feeder rod was soon away, and a 2lb 2oz rudd hit the net. Ten minutes later, the Method rod tore off, and after a good fight a much larger fish surfaced. It weighed 2lb 15oz 8dr and is a new PB.
“I wish it’d eaten a few more boilies to top the 3lb mark, but I couldn’t be disappointed at such a fish!”
