Who else is looking forward to the return of the hit series, the Grand Fishing Adventure, which returns to our screens at 9pm, 15th April on ITV4?
"This series really lives up to the name ADVENTURE, with plenty of variety that should provide interesting and captivating viewing to all anglers and non-anglers too," Ali told us.
"Not only do the OMC team visit big commercial holiday venues in France, but also the famed Grenville syndicate in the UK, where there was a real possibility of sighting and catching a British Record carp."
“All these venues are widely different in depths, clarity and the challenges they present for visiting anglers. So, you’ll see plenty of the thought process and decision making that goes into overcoming these," Ali explained.
“Some of the underwater footage we have captured is truly insane, live bites, in fight action and nettings – next level fishing on your television,” he added.

What is in store?
Ali and the team get to fully immerse themselves in the underwater unknowns to find out exactly what lies beneath. Watch them scrutinise their different carp rigs and baits by viewing incredible footage playout live as it happens from the mission control tent on the “live-cam” screens.
Also, with split screen action, you the viewer will not only get to watch the incredible underwater footage playout, but you’ll also get to enjoy seeing the reaction of the team as they watch events playout live bankside – think “Gogglebox for Fishing”. This series brings a totally new dimension to fishing on TV.
There are also “spy-cams”, which are more mobile underwater cameras that are placed then retrieved after the events, so in effect “Carp VAR”. Virtually no areas are off limits for camera coverage!

What did the team discover?
As ever, the underwater footage helped the guys tweak their rigs and baiting strategies to improve their catch rates. After thoroughly analysing the footage, these were the main takeaways from an epic sequence of films...
Spinners are great, but not in rocks!
Our success rate on Spinner Rigs combined with the Magic Wand was pushing 100%. However, when fishing the rig as a wafter presentation with the hook lying flat on a rocky bottom, we found the hook couldn’t actually spin! It was falling between the rocks due to the excess movement. A change in this scenario to a Fluorocarbon D-Rig saw everything that took the bait hooked and landed!

Make your lead a Method feeder
Adding paste to your leads keeps carp in the area longer than anything else. Each time they come in they kick the attraction off the lead again. We even had fish feeding directly off the lead!
Go balanced for cautious feeding fish
When the carp are not really feeding in the early spring, a balanced wafter presentation that flies back into the mouth as soon as a fish sucks at it will get you more takes. However, with fish feeding hard over a heavily baited area, overweighting your pop-ups or wafters can cause them real difficulty ejecting the rig once they take it and prevents spooking them with excess movement.
SPRING CAN BE A GREAT TIME FOR CARP FISHING, HERE ARE SOME EXCELLENT TIPS TO HELP YOU MAKE THE MOST OF IT...

Watch our for weed
Ever sat there thinking you should have had a bite and it hasn’t happened? Well, you wouldn’t think it was possible your rig was covered in weed when placed by a diver but weed can move! In this instance fish activity had covered our hookbait with weed so fish couldn’t suck it up. And we were none the wiser! If you think it should have gone and it hasn’t, redo it!

Carp are curious
You would think a diver swimming around would spook the fish, wouldn’t you? But they are surprisingly inquisitive about Luke’s movements and often very quickly investigate areas he has kicked up. Sometimes even feeding in as quick as 15 minutes. Something to think about.
