Many anglers dream of catching big fish, and while records are often personal, how many of us can say we wouldn’t want to catch the biggest fish of the species we are targeting? Well, that dream became a reality for angler Kacper Stepien when he landed the world’s largest common carp, weighing an unbelievable 47kg 390g, or roughly 105lb—an incredible achievement.
Kacper was fishing at the renowned Euro Aqua in Hungary, the premier European venue for big fish. This week alone, another carp over 100lb was caught at the same location, which also holds the current record for the largest mirror carp, weighing in at 112lb.

The fishery staff were thrilled that Kacper had his moment with such a massive carp. The owners and staff work tirelessly to maintain the venue as a hotspot for record-breaking carp, helping anglers fulfil their dreams of catching monster carp.
Kacper has been fishing at Euro Aqua for several years, with the sole goal of landing a carp over 40kg. His persistence paid off in spectacular fashion when he shattered his target, landing the 47kg giant.
Before catching the enormous carp, Kacper had already netted a 35kg fish. As he was releasing it, his other rod burst into life. After what he described as an "epic battle," he subdued the fish and quickly contacted the staff, knowing he had something truly special in his landing net.
"I had tears in my eyes when I landed the fish. It was huge, and it made my dreams come true. This is a fish I’ve always wanted to catch, and to finally have my moment with it is something I will never forget," Kacper told us.
The carp was caught using homemade 24mm boilies, the same type Euro Aqua uses to feed their fish. With more time left in his session, who knows what else Kacper might catch?
