The England team that will represent the nation in this year’s World Feeder Championships has been revealed, and there’s a new name on the squad list.

Dean Barlow and his assistants have been deliberating about who will wear the Three Lions during the event, and experienced internationals Steve Ringer, Will Freeman, Lee Kerry, Adam Wakelin and Rob Wootton all make the cut as expected.

The retirement of Mick Vials left a gap and that has been filled by up-and-coming star Tom Noton. A fine performance for England in the European Feeder Cup helped him gain the call up, and he’ll now head to Lithuania with the team to compete for a medal on the River Skirvyte on June 14 and 15.

Speaking after the announcement, Dean Barlow said: “We’re also thrilled to welcome Tom to the squad. He’s one of the country’s finest river anglers, and his experience on venues like the Trent will be a major asset.

“This is a powerful, fast-flowing waterway that demands a heavy-duty approach, with feeders of over 7oz needed to hold bottom - it’s a formidable venue.

“This will be Lithuania’s first time hosting the event, and they have a talented, emerging team that will be tough to beat on home waters, but we’re not traveling all that way to settle for second place.
