“This monster roach was a bit of a fluke!” – Dean Wedlake

"This monster roach was a bit of a fluke!" - Dean Wedlake

“I travelled from my home in Kent to fish the River Severn at Bewdley, where my friends and I hoped to catch barbel.

“The sport was a little slow for me, so I scaled down to a 10mm pellet in the evening and caught this roach, weighing 3lb exactly.

“I was so pleased with this fish – it’s the catch of a lifetime and smashes my previous 2lb 4oz PB. After landing it, I just sat there, totally beside myself. It was a bit of a fluke, though, and my friend, Mick Green – a keen roach angler – called me a jammy sod! It wasn’t all bad for him either, as he managed to bank a 10lb 8oz barbel.”
