The long-standing barbel record at the famous Throop fishery on the Dorset Stour was beaten in the final days of the season by this 16lb 5oz fish taken by local angler, Keith Humphreys.
After feeding a small amount of hemp and 4mm pellets, Keith fished a paste-wrapped dumbell over the top, and connected with the barbel after a bite on his downstream rod.
“When I lifted the net and felt the weight of the fish, I had to rest her back in the water to compose myself!” he said.
The fish was weighed on checked scales and witnessed by a senior bailiff.
