After taking over a lake where local kids had been causing issues, the new fishery manager has wasted no time in getting them to clear the banks and help transform the venue.
Jamie Clayton, who runs Manchester Angling Club, has just taken on the lease at Sykes Reservoir, Stockport, where anti- social behaviour and illegal fishing were both rife. Jamie is known for his work with local youngsters and was keen to address the problems head-on.
“I met with the kids and, in no time, they were on the banks, shovels in hand,” he said.
“I’m helping the lads set up their own club and, long-term, I hope they can become self-sustainable and qualified to run things, allowing me to step away and help out elsewhere.”
