Daiwa's Ryan Hayden is well known for catching some impressive specimen fish from UK waters and he took those skills to Europe with him recently, catching a giant 6lb 4oz perch on a trip to Holland.
Employing the help of local guide Rob Kraaijeveld, Ryan and his friend Simon Ashton targeted some of the vast inland seas where these huge Dutch perch live and had some early success with fish of 3-4lb brought to their boat.

"For years I've wanted to go perching in the Netherlands , but work and family life got in the way, naturally, when an opportunity arose to go, I jumped at the chance," Ryan told us.
Ryan used lure tactics and creature baits to fool the enormous predatory fish, which he landed on 15lb braid and 3-21g Daiwa Prorex rods.
"I hooked the fish at range and it felt almost like a small carp," he said.

"When this absolute giant broke the surface, my legs went to complete jelly.
"My mind was blown when we put it on the scales - the fish of a lifetime!"
