A lake at the biggest commercial complex in the land has undergone a revamp that will now see it dedicated to silverfish.

Warwickshire’s Makin’s Fishery is home to more than a dozen waters that are spread over three different phases, with the owners determined to cater for all coarse anglers.

The latest move in that drive has seen the overhaul of Paddock on Phase Two. Most of the carp have been removed, with over 1,000lb of silvers going in to replace them. These fish consist of big roach, bream to over 4lb, tench and crucians, with more expected to be added in the coming weeks.

They aren’t the only fishery that has moved to bolster their silverfish numbers though, with Buckinghamshire’s Alders Farm taking action to provide more bites for visitors.

Staff recently surveyed their stock ponds to reveal the true extent of what they had in reserve and were astonished by the number of skimmers that were found. Over 3,000 of them have now been split between Ash and Pines Lake which are both open to day ticket anglers.
