It is every angling dad's dream to spend some quality time on the bank with their children, regardless of whether fish are caught or not. But on this trip, Bobby Needham caught a roach that left his dad, Matt, truly astounded.
Often fishing together, the duo have had many successful trips, with Bobby catching loads of different species, including big tench, carp, and in this instance, a huge roach.

Fishing on a local water for carp, Bobby had a sensitive drop back on his alarms. Thinking it was a small bream, he quickly reeled it in, only to hear the shock from his dad when the fish popped up.
"We have been fishing together for a while now and he has taken to it really well, I love spending time together on the bank doing something we enjoy," Matt told us.
"Bobby catches loads of great fish and enjoys targeting a range of species, recently catching his first pike, tench and carp, but this roach might well be the most significant capture of his life."
"Unfortunately I didn't weigh the fish, but after 30 years of fishing myself I'd estimate it at around 3lb, it was certainly the biggest roach I have ever seen!"
"The fish was fooled using a small PVA bag of crumbed boilies and an illusion D rig with a corn hookbait."
"It was a great fish and a great moment to share and we will always question just how big try fish was whilst out on our adventures," Matt concluded.
