England feeder international Adam Wakelin got his 2024 campaign off to a flier when he won one of the first notable festivals of the year.

A whole host of the nation’s best match anglers headed to The Riddings in Warwickshire to take part in the On The Flyer promoted tournament, with Des Shipp, Cameron Hughes and Sean Ashby amongst the entrants.

As expected, there was never going to be a runaway leader, but at the end of the two-day event, just two anglers had managed to win their section on both occasions.

Cameron was one of them, but he was outmuscled on weight countback by Adam who also achieved the same feat.

Adam kicked off from peg 9 on Riddings Pool and was kept busy with 50 chunky silvers that went 18lb 7oz on day one, before he found a bigger stamp of fish from peg 24 on Folly Pool, with his 20 skimmers tipping the dial on the scales round to 17lb 9oz.
