Chaos reigned at the live draw for this year’s Cazoo Fish O’Mania Final, as one angler was omitted from the list of finalists, leaving one peg left over at the end of proceedings!
With 24 of the 25 anglers set to do battle for £50,000 at Westwood Lakes on Saturday drawn, the error quickly became obvious, forcing organisers Matchroom Sport to announce several hours later a full redraw for the event on Friday – news that didn’t go down well with the match angling community.

Simon Diment was the man to miss out, forcing him to contact Matchroom to see which peg he was going to be fishing. He was then given peg 15, the one that was left over, but that didn’t sit well with the many thousands watching on the Facebook Live stream.

Understandably, the condemnation was brutal given the magnitude and gravitas that Fish O’Mania has, while for those anglers who had been drawn one of the fancied pegs, it left a massive sense of anti-climax. Think about it. If you’d drawn last year’s winning peg, you’d be ecstatic. Now you might be on a no hoper. Not good. Not good at all.
