The biggest perch that young Isaac Perna had ever caught prior to his latest session was under 8oz, and he obliterated that when he netted this stunning 3lb 11oz specimen.

Targeting an Oxfordshire gravel pit with his dad Adam – a well-known big fish expert –the nine-year-old presented a simple running leger 25 yards from the bank that was baited with a worm hookbait.

A generous dose of maggots and chopped worms were fed over the zone and the tactic worked a treat, with four sizeable predators falling to the duo during the outing.

“The fish fought hard, and I was worried it was going to come off. I knew it was going to be a big one, but I never expected it to be quite as big as it was!”

Isaac used 7lb mainline and a size 6 hook to beat his quarry.
