Long walks and uneven terrain are constant challenges for the river angler and for many years, the platform barrow has been a favoured solution.

Shuttles and trolleys are great for paths and tracks, but nothing beats a single-wheeled barrow when it comes to negotiating fields and uneven banks! Once at your peg, the platform can be used either as a level base to place your seatbox, or as a separate bait table for anglers who fish without a seatbox.

Rigger

What they say: Designed to carry your gear to any peg, at any venue, over any terrain. Available in Core and Plus sizes to fit any seatbox, it includes 17 accessories sockets and the option of an inflatable or solid puncture proof wheel.

What we say: The Land Rover of platform barrows, everything on the Rigger is built to last. The long square leg clamps ensure absolutely no wobble or leg slip, while six legs ensure a huge amount of stability.

Price: £259.99 – £284.99, www.rct-rigger.co.uk

Matrix Duralite Transporter

What they say: Based on the mega popular skeleton design Duralite platform, the Transporter goes one step further by creating a wheelbarrow version. Super lightweight, it packs away into a supplied storage bag.

What we say: The original Duralite platform came as a revelation – super-lightweight, stable, and it packed into a bag! This quality wheelbarrow version is the natural evolutionary step forward and is ideal for the angler who wants to save space and weight by not having a separate trolly.

Price: £329.99, www.fishmatrix.co.uk
